Rebekah Brooks faces fury and tears as she announces 'you're all out of a job but I'm not'
Shock turned to rage inside the fortress Wapping yesterday that Rebecca Brooks wielded the ax to the New World.
Flanked by security as she spoke to the newsroom, former editor of the newspaper against what was described as a "lynching mentality" among his former colleagues.
Insiders said she immediately tried to blame others for the demise of the newspaper, where she led up to the allegations of phone hacking.
She told reporters gathered at the second floor of the building News International, near Tower Bridge in east London: "The Guardian newspaper were out of us, and they gave us."
If it was designed as a rallying cry, it failed.

A witness told the Daily Mail: "She ran away sharpish. The atmosphere was poisoned and she was not lying. "
