Crackpot justice Hit-run junkie’s 150 days for paralysing beauty

A junkie was jailed for only 150 days of crippling student Claire Carver in a hit-and-run. Claire, 23, was left for dead by Rohan Bingham, who sped out to buy crack in Nottingham. Clare tragedy will require round-the-clock care for life after being paralyzed by Bingham.

But the penalty of prison junkie loose ridiculous means it will be before Christmas.

Angry road safety groups last night said Bingham 150 days run, which included a heavy discount for pleading guilty, was a scandal.

Ellen Booth, charity Brake, said: "This is a travesty of justice this guy did not even stop at the scene ..

"It's almost unbelievable and an insult to the victims. The sentence is inadequate. Once again the government seems on the side of the aggressor. "

The mother of 39, Steven Hall, who was killed in January in a hit and run, said Bingham must have obtained life.

Maureen Hall said: "This is an incredibly soft sentence should be life for a life .."
