Obama calls Japans PM over earthquake

Washington: U.S. President Barack Obama called on the Prime Minister of Japan, Naoto Kan on Friday to offer assistance after the devastating tsunami caused by an earthquake, the official said.

Obama has previously delayed the planned press conference on 75 minutes, so that he can get brief information about the crash, the National Security Council representative Tommy Vietor said.

More information about the call and response of the U.S. in connection with the earthquake and tsunami tragedy, which claimed hundreds of lives, is expected later. - (AFP)
