It’s happening next week! October 16 though 22 is Make Your Mark Week! GenerationOn is behind this wonderful opportunity for young people to focus on issues that matter most to them by doing small acts of service that add up to make a big difference.
Their goal is to to inspire and mobilize kids of all ages to use their energy, ingenuity and compassion to “make their mark on the world” through hands-on service.
Make A Difference In Animal Welfare, Environment, Homelessness, Hunger, Literacy
This year, the focus is on some important issues that kids can get passionate about: animal welfare, the environment, homelessness, hunger and literacy. Once you go to the Make Your Mark website, you can:
• Peek at the issues.
• Peruse the simple acts and service projects.
• Pledge to do the act you like best.
• Plot your course with our brain food, project ideas, toolkits, stories, and a how-to from powerfully-inspired teens.
• Put your pledge into action—make your mark on the world!
Community service plays an important role in educating young people and helping them contribute to society, which is why it’s an integral part of most high school curricula. Being part of a community is a crucial aspect of students’ identity, and volunteering in the community is a great way for them to understand that.
