Supporters of President Bashar al-Assad attacked the compound of the U.S. embassy in Damascus, diplomats said.
Previously, security guards at the French Embassy was shot in the air to push back a crowd of loyalists Assad.
The protests come days after the U.S. and French ambassadors have visited the center of Hama, where a huge anti-government rally was held on Friday.
They also coincide with a conference on dialogue organized by the government including many opposition leaders boycotted.
The meeting is to discuss possible political reforms, which the government hopes to end the uprising four months.
