“Sister Wives” Going to Court to Fight Polygamy Law – What Do You Think?

Kody Brown, star of TLC reality series "Sister Wives" is set to challenge the law on polygamy in Utah.

The Browns polygamous family that includes four wives and 16 children, plan to go to court on Wednesday to protect against possible prosecution.

The trial will not demand state recognition of a polygamous marriage, but the Browns are challenging the right of the Utah for punishing consenting adults for their "intimate behavior" and seeking equal treatment with other citizens.

Brown is only legally married to one of four women.

But in Utah, is a crime "if a married person is supposed to marry or cohabit with another person."

As members of the Mormon offshoot of the United Brethren Church Apostolic, the Browns are arguing they should be allowed to pursue family life free from interference, as long as they do not break other laws (such as child abuse or to seek marriage licenses multiple).

Essentially, the family is challenging the state law to punish them for plural marriage alone.

"We just want to live our private lives according to our convictions," Brown said in a statement.

Obviously, this issue is controversial.
