Baba Ramdev started his indefinite fast against corruption and blackmoney in New Delhi on Saturday morning after the government failed to persuade him to cancel his protest. The yoga guru started the event with thousands of supporters at the Ramlila Maidan in New Delhi, he was joined by Swami Sadhavi Ritambhara and other religious leaders of the Sikh, Jain and Muslim communities.
Before you start fasting, Ramdev held a session of yoga and 'bhajan' in which he told the gathering that the event was intended to save the country from corruption and ensure that the poor get a good life.
"Nothing is impossible, anything is possible and we will not be defeated," the saffron clad Baba seated on a raised platform, told the gathering, referring to reduce black money stashed in tax havens abroad.
Ramdev to 4:50 at the stage Saturday for a round of applause from his supporters.
Union Minister Kapil Sibal and Subodh Kant Sahay has held a marathon meeting Friday with Ramdev to persuade him not to go ahead with his indefinite fast. However, the failure of negotiations to reach a breakthrough with the yoga guru insisting that all his requests to meet completely.
Ramdev alleged existence of a conspiracy against him to ensure he does not go ahead with his hunger strike, but said he had "failed".
"I certainly will not mention all the issues of today, there was a conspiracy, but he failed. What was the conspiracy, I would not say today. When the time comes, I say, "Ramdev said.
"What does India get this protest? India will be saved now ... People have the opportunity for the first time in all professional colleges of government can bring about studying his mother tongue, "he said.
