Spot-fix cheat Aamer plays cricket in Surrey... despite worldwide ban



The ICC has launched an investigation into allegations that location-fix cheat Mohammad Aamer has defied his ban on cricket around the world - playing for a club team in Surrey.

Pakistan fast bowler, 19, was convicted by the ICC in February deliberately bowling no balls at Lord's Test against England last August in exchange for payment by a network of paris.

Consequently, he was banned from cricket for five years, while the captain Salman Butt was struck by a ban of 10 years and Mohammad Asif for seven years.

The three players are awaiting trial at Southwark Crown Court accused of cheating and conspiracy

ICC spokesman Colin Gibson said: "We study and awaits details. If true, it is clearly a violation of the sanction imposed in February. The prohibition is absolute worldwide covering all levels and all activities related to cricket.

"What would happen then is a hypothetical question at this stage."

A spokesman for the ECB said: "We are aware of this incident and we are as a matter of urgency with the ICC to see if this game is within our jurisdiction."
