CAIRO: Egypt's ailing former President Hosni Mubarak's son and two were detained for 15 days as part of an investigation into the use of force against demonstrators, prosecutors said Wednesday.
A statement to the Crown's Facebook page said the chief prosecutor Abdel Maguid Mahmud authorized the detention "in connection with an investigation into the use of force against protesters during the unrest in January and February."
Security officials said Mr. Mubarak was detained in a hospital in the resort of Sharm el-Sheikh, where he suffered a heart attack on Tuesday during questioning by prosecutors.
The official news agency MENA said that security has been stepped outside his hospital room and he would be taken to a cell as soon as his health allowed his transfer.
His two son Gamal and Alaa arrived mid-morning at Tora prison complex, Cairo, home to other officers and dropped and some of the country's most famous political prisoners.
MENA reported that Gamal, once considered the heir anointed his father and older brother were handed white prison uniforms, blankets and mattresses after giving up their cell phones.
They refused breakfast, which seems to be in shock.
