Tokyo shares close up 4.36% on nuclear hopes

OSAKA: Tokyo Stock Exchange closed 4.36 percent higher Tuesday, helped by signs of progress in the control of Japan after the earthquake nuclear crisis, dealers said.

The Nikkei added 401.57 points to close at 9,608.32.
