Shoaib unlikely for semi against India

Mohali: Paceman Shoaib Akhtar is unlikely to play in Wednesday's World Cup semi-final against arch rival India, according to a source close to the Pakistan team.
Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi has raised expectations of a return to Akhtar when he said he knew that the melon was not in great shape, but to have him in the lineup to offer something different against the Powerful Indian drummer.
But a source who was not authorized to comment on the media, told The Associated Press late Tuesday that the management of the Pakistan team was not in favor of disrupting a winning combination.
The 35-year-old Akhtar has already announced he will retire from international cricket after the World Cup, but has not played in four of seven games in the tournament.
In his absence, Pakistan beat Zimbabwe, gave three times Australian champion his first World Cup loss since 1999 and also beat West Indies by 10 wickets in the quarterfinals.
"The only likely change (semifinals) the team quarter-final is that leftarm spinner Abdur Rehman could come in place of offspinner Saeed Ajmal," the source told AP.
